The FCCs have been set up through the non-governmental organizations with the objective of providing referral and rehabilitative services to women and children who are victims of atrocities, family maladjustments and social ostracism and also provide crisis intervention and trauma counseling in case of natural disasters. FCCs are also being run in Police Headquarters premises and Mahila (Women ) Jails. These are set up with the objective of providing speedy crisis intervention to those women whose cases were registered in Police Stations. There are 890 FCCs working in India.
